What are the main aims and objectives of first aid?
It is impossible to predict when will an accident happen in the workplace. However, it is the employer’s duty to do everything in their power to prevent accidents and provide access to first aid courses to their employees and everybody who frequents their workplace.

Preserve Life

Preserving life is the primary aim, and it involves making sure that an injury is not life-threatening. This can involve calling ambulances as soon as possible and performing CPR in extreme circumstances.

Prevention of illness or injury from worsening
Illnesses and injuries can easily spread when prevention measures are not undertaken.
First aid helps in containing wounds and injuries sustained in the body and enables the prevention of further illnesses resulting from the injuries or wounds.

Pain relief

This is done only if it is in any way possible and it doesn’t present a risk to the patient. Some pain relief medications can be dangerous in case a person is bleeding. Therefore, if not sure if the pain medication is appropriate, it is better to ask the medical experts first.

Aid Recovery
This is the practice of helping a person heal their wounds, in the short and long term. Aiding recovery involves wound bandages and putting pressure on a bleed.
