Hand or Foot Bandage for Burns

This application can be applied on the hand or the foot. This bandage application is for covering the burn hand or foot to prevent infection.  The illustration below shows the step by step guide for the hand only. The same steps will apply for the foot.

The first step is to place the  open bandage in a firm surface  and place the burned hand at the center of the bandage. Align the middle finger with the apex and base of the bandage should be just at least 1 to 2 inches away from the base.(figure 1)

Bring the apex of bandage towards the forearm of patient, covering the palm, and give at least an inch space from the fingertips (figure 2)

Fold each side of the bandage towards each side of the hand but do not cross over to the other side (figure 3)

Once you have folded each side, it should appear like this. (figure 4)

Hold each side of the fold and cross the points of the bandage to the opposite side  while maintaining the position of the folded bandage (figure 5)

Bring the two points at the back of palm just in line with the wrist (figure 6). After this bring the points once again on the top of the palm still maintaining the alignment in the wrist.

Once the points are on top, make a square knot (figure 7). Do not apply to much pressure as they may impede circulation. Bear in mind that this application is just to cover the hand to prevent infection during burns.

Fold and insert the apex on a square knot points (figure 8)

Loosen the the bandage on both sides of palm (figure 9)
